Advertising is an important part of the creative industries. This becomes clear when we look at the 2010 figures released by Baden-Württemberg’s Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Sales from the advertising market amount to EUR 3.4 billion in Baden-Württemberg. Over half of this figure is generated by companies in the Stuttgart administrative district, where 47% of the persons working in the industry in Baden-Württemberg are employed. With agencies like Jung von Matt, Luft und Bleibler or Quartier Stuttgart and a range that covers everything from digital and classical advertising to event and trade fair communication, the Stuttgart Region has a broad portfolio in the advertising industry. Renowned awards such as the Cannes Lions or the ADC Award are not unusual here. As far as the topic of spatial communication is concerned, regional advertisers have their finger on the pulse. With Totems Communications, Reinecke New Media and Atelier Brückner, for example, three agencies won the tender to design the 2008 Expo in Zaragoza in Spain. For Shanghai 2010, the German pavilion was designed by Milla und Partner in Stuttgart.
One of the associations responsible for networking and communication amongst professionals in the field is Marketing-Club Region Stuttgart e.V. The club was founded in 1954 and has around 400 members, making it one of the oldest and largest marketing clubs in Germany.
