Creative spaces are an important argument for selling the location to companies in the creative industries in the Stuttgart Region. These mainly refer to free spaces and places that meet the special requirements of the creative industries. For example, they can be creative neighbourhoods that create the basis for coming up with ideas and for exchanging ideas with others, for example through a particular atmosphere or the possibilities to meet other people, embedded in a functioning urban setting. But they can also be areas used temporarily or particularly low-cost premises where a creative world can develop.
Because there is more and more demand for such spaces, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart GmbH publishes a regular publication that presents the different Creative areas in the Stuttgart Region. You will find spaces with an above-average number of tenants from the creative industries as well as spaces that offer a sophisticated, creative setting thanks to the buildings and architectural peculiarities of the space. Other areas are listed in the Commercial real estate portal, which with around 1,300 offerings is one of the leading regional commercial property marketplaces on the internet. In the newsletter in medias res, every month a special building or premises is presented that currently has vacant space and is thus of interest to those looking on a short-term basis.
With a dedicated office in charge of managing idle space and temporary use, the Wirtschaftsförderung der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart (the state body for economic development in Stuttgart) wants to put owners with vacant space in touch directly with investors and people working in the creative industries. Work is underway on an internal database for the city that records creative space potential.
