The region has important infrastructure facilities, such as the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg, which has been attracting attention throughout Europe for years with its training services. The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) is one of the world’s largest and most important festivals for professional animated film art and is organised by Film- und Medienfestival GmbH.

The companies in the region are also worth seeing: Mackevision Medien Design GmbH, for example, is one of the world market leaders for Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), including 3D visualisation, animation and visual effects. The company’s success was crowned by an Emmy for „Outstanding Special Visual Effects“ for the fourth season of „Game of Thrones“. This created the City of Braavos and many other completely virtual environments of the successful fantasy series in the Stuttgart region.

The Film Commission Region Stuttgart is a specialized consulting agency within the Creative Industries Unit of the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation, with targeted offers for all aspects of the film industry. It sees itself as a coordinator for moving images at the interface between culture, business, administration and the public. Here you will find all suitable contacts, information on associations and institutions as well as support and advice in the search for suitable locations, obtaining filming permits and cooperation with authorities. In cooperation with the location agency Tübingen-Reutlingen-Zollernalb and the MFG Baden-Württemberg, the Film Commission also operates the Film Commission Neckar Alb.

In addition, the Film Commission also implements projects to promote the film industry in the Stuttgart Region, such as the Monday Seminars or regular workshop talks, which provide a look behind the scenes of the local film industry.
